Chris's Suggested Clothing and Supplies for a beginner caver:

  1. Dress in layers
  2. Good Solid Shoes
  3. Durable Pants (for example, jeans that stand up to crawling or warm fleece pants with a nylon potecting them from the outside)
  4. Ribbed Sweatshirt (If cotton not suggested but will work)
  5. Polypro (Plastics are perferred when at all possible)
  6. Long Underwear
  7. Wool Socks
  8. Synthetic (non-cotton) clothing that stays warm when wet.
  9. Three light sources (club provides to members one main light source)
  10. Cave Helmet (with internal suspension) (club provides to members)
  11. AN EXPERIENCED LEADER

    after your first trip)
  2. Wet Suit (you can wear polypro underneath
    and works great for warmth)
  3. Coveralls

Cold Weather Caving Extras

(Late October to Late April) During this season it is
usually too cold to change outside, especially if you
are wearing a wet suit because it will freeze to your
body.

  1. Sturdy Bag (to carry clothes to cave)
  2. Warm after caving clothing
  3. Jacket
  4. Sleeping Pad (thermarest)
  5. Boots without laces prefered,
    laces freeze and have to be cut
